In this review, we'll be taking a look at the Adata Nobility N005 16Gb USB3.0 Flash Drive. It's one of the first flash drive to feature the new USB3.0 interface and comes in an Aluminum body with a metal finish. It offers performance of upto 85MB/s:Read and 55MB/s:Write.

Remember, to fully take advantage of the USB3.0 interface and use the drive to its full potential, you'll need a computer or a notebook with a motherboard that supports the new USB3.0. It will be interesting to see what kind of speeds we'll be able to achieve in our "real-life" tests.

Cideko Air Keyboard Chatting Reviewed Print E-mail
Posted by Winston
Friday, 29 October 2010 00:04

We've just published a review on the Cideko Air Keyboard Chatting. It's a wireless air keyboard designed for "chatting". It reminds me of something from the eighties ... a kind of "Back 2 the Future" controller. Anyway here's a snip ...

The Cideko Air Keyboard Chatting is a wireless air keyboard designed for chatting, and comes with ear-buds that has a built-in microphone. It's aimed at multimedia/HTPC users who use communication software such as Windows Live Messenger, Skype, QQ, or other VOIP software.

P1010253

The control unit itself is compact and light-weight, but not very ergonomic. Like the Conqueror, it features a full QWERTY keyboard but lacks the joystick/joypad and extra buttons. It does however have two buttons on the top of the unit to emulate left/right mouse clicks. There's also 4 programmable buttons which you can use for various applications.

Sennheiser expands gaming headset line, brings the top-shelf PC 360 Stateside Print E-mail
Posted by Nick G.
Wednesday, 27 October 2010 13:45

"Sennheiser is well known in the slightly more budget-conscious wing of the audiophile community for selling great headsets at prices that won't drop your credit rating by more than a few points. Of late the company has been making waves in the gaming community as well by throwing microphones onto those cans, and now four new models are shaking the pool even more. First and biggest is the $299 PC 360, available overseas for a few months but finally hitting the US and building upon the success of the PC 350. It looks to borrow the open design of the company's well regarded HD555 headset, adding a mic on the left that mutes itself when you pivot it up and a volume dial on the right. The $239 PC 333D model offers a similar design but with more isolating closed cups, mixing in pseudo 7.1 Dolby Headphone, while the $169 PC 330 looks much the same minus the faux surround. Finally, and smallest of the bunch, is the $209 PC 163D, which again offers pretends at 7.1 but in a design that might be a little more... flattering for gamers with smallish heads. None is exactly affordable, but all should rock your world, and all are available now."

Razer Announces the World's First MMO Gaming Keyboard: the Anansi Print E-mail
Posted by Nick G.
Wednesday, 27 October 2010 12:17

"Razer, the world’s leading high-end precision gaming and lifestyle peripherals brand, announced a new entry for its MMO Gaming product line, a keyboard that lets you Get Imba - the Razer Anansi. Sharing the same successful design philosophy as the world’s best-selling MMO Gaming Mouse, the Razer Naga, this keyboard gives gamers an unprecedented slew of MMO functions and features such as dedicated thumb modifier keys and cutting-edge macro capabilities.

razer_anansi

“The Razer Anansi gaming keyboard is the new weapon of choice for MMO gamers,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “Let’s face it, the regular keyboard that came with your PC was designed and built for typing, not for MMO gaming. With its revolutionary seven thumb modifier keys, every key combination that you had before is now multiplied by seven times. The Razer Anansi allows you to use every spell, ability or custom macro in your arsenal -- both instantly and in complete comfort.”

Designed and engineered especially for MMO gameplay, the Razer Anansi gives MMO gamers the power to instantly use up to seven times more commands and abilities over the current 12 ability keys normally accessible on a standard keyboard. The Razer Anansi also features over 100 fully programmable keys, on-the-fly macro recording, five additional gaming keys and the ability to customize the key backlighting from over 16 million colors."

ASUS Intros ''All Round'' Wireless Mouse with Touch Surface Print E-mail
Posted by Nick G.
Wednesday, 27 October 2010 12:11

"Asus may be better known for their netbooks and motherboards, but they occasionally take an interest in peripherals, namely the 'Pulse Rate' mouse and Eee Stick. For your consideration, they deliver the WX-DL Mouse. In the Sisyphean effort to build a better mouse, this is definitely an option, albeit not quite as one would hope. In nearly 30 years of commercial use, the basic shape and use are relatively unchanged. Asus' WX-DL mouse is named for one of its designers, David Lewis. David has given this a bit of a 90's look with a chrome finished exterior and dark accents. The all aluminum body should feel cool to the touch as well as the eye. The top surface is a touch sensitive control system that can recognize some gestures. It also has active areas that function as remote control buttons for media players.

asus_wx_dl_round_mouse_news

While the combination of mouse and multi-touchpad is currently championed by Apples Magic Mouse, this worthy suitor may be a PC friendly alternative. You must be willing to forgo the desire to bounce pinballs off it to beat Tommy's high score. These are available for sale at various vendors for roughly $79 and should be a bit easier to track down than truly revolutionary Cylo/Orbit mouse of years past. We'll wait for some hands-on reviews to see if the touch surface can finally replace that awkward scroll wheel we rely on so much."

Posted by Winston
Tuesday, 26 October 2010 00:21

We've just published a review on the Arctic Sound P311 Stereo Bluetooth Headset from Arctic Cooling. This headset has been described by Arctic Cooling as a supra-aural headphone featuring soft pads and in a neckband style. It produces high fidelity stereo sound, including powerful bass and crisp highs. It also features an invisible microphone for answering calls, and is compatible with most mobile phones. What's more, the Arctic Sound P311 has volume adjustments, as well as track selection (next/back), which is great for listening MP3s without having to use the phone's physical controls.

X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers (with video) Print E-mail
Posted by Winston
Friday, 22 October 2010 03:38

We've just published a review on the X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers. These capsule speakers differ slightly from the original X-Minis which we reviewed a few weeks ago. It now features full stereo sound, plus all the goodness of the original X-Minis. Here's a snip ...

"Today we look at X-Mini's bigger brother... the X-Mini Max II Capsule speakers. They come in an egg-shape design with a magnetic base, which holds the two separate speaker units together. Basically, the X-Mini Max II is the "Stereo" equivalent of the X-Mini, which is original based on a single capsule speaker.

Like the original X-Mini, each speaker on the X-Mini Max II is powered by a 40mm driver and features BXS - Bass Xpansion System, which delivers precise highs for superb sound clarity, and a fuller, richer, low-end response."

Apple's software reinstall drive - Ingenious? Print E-mail
Posted by Will Smith
Thursday, 21 October 2010 23:28

"Apple ships something with the MacBook Air that I think ALL OEMs should ship with new PCs. Want to have a guess what it is?

A single USB key containing everything needed to reinstall the software on the system. So far, I’m not aware of any OEM that does this. It’s such a simple and simplifying alternative to piles of CD and DVDs, or worse still, having to rely on the integrity of a recovery partition. It’s so simple in fact that I can’t understand why consumers put up with anything less these days."

During a recent visit to Arctic Cooling's office in Hong Kong, I was extremely saddened when I realised I lost my ear-piece/ear-buds for my iPhone. But thanks to the kind people at Arctic Cooling, they gave me a stereo bluetooth headset which they said I could use, in return they wanted my verdict on the product. So I gladly accepted ...

These stereo bluetooth headset are totally wireless, produces decent quality sound and looks pretty cool. Takes 4 hours initially to charge via a mini-USB cable and offers upto 20 hours playback. It features an invisible mic for taking calls and has volume adjustments, as well as track selection (next/back). Watch out for a review coming soon ... right here at Funky Kit.
