What to do with your old laptop Print E-mail

WARNING: This is not your average everyday article. So please do not try this at home on your laptop/notebook.

After my laptop died ... I tried my hardest to revive it. Unfortunately, it was beyond repair, plus the fact it is much cheaper to go out and get a netbook. So what do I do with this old useless laptop?

Well firstly, I removed the hard drive (most important - there's lots of data which I may need later), then I took out the ram. These components are probably what matters most, and it's normally quite easy to extract.

So what about the rest of the laptop .... Mmmm, I think I can show you what I did to mine.

I managed to remove the CPU (Core 2 Duo - TT5500 @ 1.66Ghz), CMOS battery, heatsink, fan, and some components which appears to be a 54G wireless LAN module, a fingerprint reader and a bluetooth module ... I think.

Yes, it does hurt to disassemble my trusted old Toshiba ... but I had 3 years good use out of it, plus it was beyond repair. Better to rip it apart and take out the bits ;)

I'm sure I can find some use for those bits I've just pulled out. Ebay maybe ... lol!
