Here we are again with FunkyKit’s Favourite Kickstarters for May 2016. Scanning through kickstarter.com we spotted several crowdfunding projects which we saw at HKEF 2016, such as the Nexpaq, so we’ll skip over those and see which 3 caught our eye.
Lenovo Y410P/Y510P Ultrabay Adapter for Graphics Cards
We start off with what looks like a little home-made crowdfunding project which wants to develop an ultrabay adapter for Lenovo laptops which one can insert a more powerful graphics card so that you can keep the mobility of using a laptop but having enough juice to provide you with fast graphics.
A lot of people need the mobility of a laptop but also want the graphic performance of a gaming pc. The idea of the Lenovos ultra bay concept is great. Unfortunately Lenovo has stopped the development on ultrabay devices. The idea of this project is an adapter from ultra bay to PCIe x16 to connect standard PCIe cards to the laptop. This enables each user to choose the card which fulfills his own requirements in performance.
What we love about this project is the future potential of this. Even though the ultra bay is limited to Lenovo, but what if an external graphics card can be mounted onto an adapter and plugged into say a USB or Thunderbolt bolt?
