A compact camera that does everything you need ... in a flash ;) This Canon PowerShot G1 X is well worth a look ... read more over at Engadget

"Canon's G1 X boasts a beefy 14-megapixel resolution and a tank-load of ambition. Its mandate, no less, is to deliver the image quality and control of a DSLR inside the discreet body of a compact, aiming to attract serious photographers who want to travel light or supplement their main kit. That's why the G1 X houses a substantial 1.5-inch CMOS sensor, stretching to around 80 percent of the size of APS-C, along with an anti-minimalist array of dials, knobs and buttons to provide quick access to manual settings."

Well, it was only a matter of time before this would finally happen ... and it looks like to be very soon.
"Google Inc. is developing a home-entertainment system that streams music wirelessly throughout the home and would be marketed under the company's own brand, according to people briefed on the company's plans.
The effort marks a sharp shift in strategy for Google, which for the first would time would design and market consumer electronic devices under its name. The company has mainly focused on developing the Android operating system that powers devices such as smartphones, tablets and televisions. It has also allowed other companies to build and brand the hardware that uses it."

Green TVs ... Samsung's Series 7 HDTV is a 24-or-27-inch display with a built-in HDTV tuners. Nice! I want one!
"The biggest show of the year is just a few days short from arriving in the Nevada desert and it's time for the big boys to show off the attention-grabbing objects of desire. Samsung's setting mouths watering at the sight of three new displays: two monitors and a HDTV/monitor that's gonna hate to sit in your office. The Series 7 HDTV is a 24-or-27-inch display with a built-in HDTV tuner so you can flip between that spreadsheet / football game.

There's WiDi and MHL gear inside too, so you can stream content from your computer, cellphone or tablet and will set you back $600 when it arrives in March. The Series 7 Smart Station will appear on shelves the same day, costing $50 less but missing the HDTV tuner and WiDi unit."

I wonder if there will be a conflict with UK's ITV channel ...
"Launch date remains unknown, but Apple is actively pursuing this new market. The persistent reoccurring rumor that Apple, Inc. (AAPL) will be making television sets has surfaced again. The Wall Street Journal is offering up in a new report evidence of secret meetings inside of Apple planning the launch of the new television product. The important take home message is that while the launch date appears to be uncertain, Apple is hard-targeting the product (courtesy of deep negotiations with TV content providers and its work on developing advanced user interfaces)."

Quite an interesting concept that more megapixels doesn't necessarily mean better picture quality. Most of us when shopping for a camera look for a camera with the most megapixels we can get with out money. But it looks like that isn't the best way of going about things anymore. We've seem to hit a wall on a need for picture size and other factors are starting to be the main cause for getting a new camera.

Ever buy a game that has no demo and think it was the biggest mistake ever? Redbox looks to capitalize on services such as gamefly and are slated to offer console game rentals for only $2. With the fall of the length of some singleplayer games this is a welcome addition.
"Having revolutionized the DVD industry with $1-per-day rentals via its convenient kiosks, Redbox is looking to expand its media offerings with videogame rentals. Beginning on June 17, those red kiosks will include PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 titles that gamers can rent for $2 per day. The roll-out follows a test of game renting at 5,000 Redbox locations, which yielded more than a million rentals. It also puts the company in competition with services like Gamefly, which lets you rent games through the mail for a monthly fee (starting at $7.95 per month). Of course, Redbox video rentals have gone face-to-face with Netflix’s monthly service and done just fine. Then again, game playing isn’t quite the same thing as watching a two-hour movie. You might want to hold on to a title for a few days to sample it enough to buy it or solve it, which could add up quickly in rental fees. Redbox won’t have a problem with that, but Gamefly’s subscription plan might be a better deal for gamers. Redbox hopes its strategically placed kiosks — in places like McDonald’s, Walmart, and grocery stores — can entice impulse rentals, perhaps from parents with young children who wouldn’t think about renting games through the mail. Would you rent videogames from a Redbox kiosk? Let us know in the Comments section. "
