How Technological Advances Could Change How We Do SEO In The Future

As technology expands, so does the way in which we consume content, meaning that it is becoming harder for companies to successfully implement various SEO strategies within their content to boost their Google ranking. Digital marketing agencies such as Absolute Digital Media SEO are applying both new and traditional SEO methods to help boost your businesses and achieve outstanding results. Here, we’re taking a closer look at how advances in technology are impacting SEO.

Voice Search

Since the release of devices such as Google Home and Amazon Echo, focus has switched to the use of voice search. This is big news for the digital landscape, meaning that users are conducting increasingly informal searches on the web. This will affect the way content is written, as content marketers will have to adapt a more informal approach in order to ensure that their content is seen. This also means that the way that keywords are placed within content will have to change to ensure the search is registered.

Mobile Searches

Since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, there has been a sharp rise in smartphone web searches, and a mere11 years later, there are several different types of smartphones on the market, making mobile search even more accessible. In recent years, a study by Google found that for the first time the use of mobile search had begun overtaking the traditional desktop search engine, meaning that content will also need to be optimised for mobile usage in order to appear at the top of Google search rankings.

Further to this, the introduction of the mobile-first search on Google means that the search engine will favour content that is optimised for mobile devices and will look for the desktop version if a mobile version is not available by default.

User Experience

User experience is also becoming increasingly important when implementing SEO as it has a profound effect on the way that content needs to be optimised. With your average consumer viewing content across multiple different platforms and devices, all content must be optimised for it to appear in the rankings. As an increasing number of keywords are being placed within content, it will become more difficult for brands to get their content seen in an already overcrowded atmosphere.

As technology continues to expand, so does the way in which we use it. While marketers should already be adapting their strategies to cater for various algorithm changes, this will become even more apparent in the future. It’s time to prepare for how technological advances could change how we do SEO in the future, now.
