Introduction

A nice new shiny motherboard showed up here in Funkykit Review HQ the other day, and I've taken it upon myself to check it out and let you, dear readers, in on the inside scoop on this newly released Z68X-UD3-B3 motherboard from Gigabyte!

Gigabyte is one of the top motherboard and video card manufacturers in the world, they were the first motherboard manufacturer to start using copper layers that weigh in at two ounces per square foot (double that of normal boards, as well as being among the first to switch to using only solid capacitors for the power circuitry on their mother boards and video cards, leading to better performance and a longer lifespan.

Gigabyte's "about us" page goes into greater detail:

GIGABYTE was founded in 1986 in a small lab by four young engineers passionate to make their mark on the industry. GIGABYTE remains dedicated to the core belief of improving the lives of our users by manufacturing products that are high-performing, reliable, and of excellent quality. Here are some of GIGABYTE’s innovation highlights:

The Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3 motherboard utilizes Intel's latest Z68 Express chipset, which is aimed at higher-end of the mainstream market. It features the same LGA 1155 socket as found on all P67 motherboards and is only compatible with Intel's 2nd generation of Core-i procesors (Sandy Bridge).

We'll be putting this motherboard through its paces and yes ... we will be using this motherboard to overclock our Core i7-2600K. Let's see what the Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3 motherboard can do for us.
