Introduction See that big snazzy looking thing with the blue fan? That's today's subject, the very cool looking Thermaltake Frio OCK. It's a top end cooler that looks the part, large and powerful! Thermaltake has been in the heatsink business for quite a while now, they were one of the first companies to see that people not only needed quiet heatsinks, but also quiet high performance heatsinks. In the Pentium 4 era they came out with the Big Typhoon, still one of my all time favorite heatsinks as well as being one of the best engineered heatsinks to this day. Beyond heatsinks Thermaltake makes quite a few parts these days, they're branched out a lot!
Thermaltake has this to say about their Values and Principles: "- While still a relatively young company, established in 1999, Thermaltake is built on unwavering will and dedication to address issues and innovate at the same time for computer enthusiasts and corporate users worldwide .
We'll be testing the Thermaltake Frio OCK on our test rig, which consists of the following components ... Intel Core i7 2600K (LGA1155) at 3.5ghz, 4.5ghz and 5.1ghz, Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3, G.Skill Ripjaws X 2133MHz 2x2gb kit, Sapphire Radeon HD 5830, Silverstone Strider 1000w and an nWin Ironclad Full Tower. We expect to see so good results ... however, one of the main concerns about this cooler is its size. It might not fit all motherboards and could cause serious damage to some, as we found out later. Onward to the review!
