Review: Lexar JumpDrive S73 16GB USB3 Flash Drive
Specifications and Pictures
Performance Testing and Results
Verdict and Conclusion

Introduction

Flash drives are everywhere. Most people have at least two or three. This makes the market for flash drives a fairly difficult one. To sell a flashdrive you need something to make it unique. Today I have one of Lexar's latest drives, the JumpDrive S73 16GB.

Lexar is attacking the market mostly from a speed standpoint, this drive uses USB3 rather than USB2, allowing speeds significantly higher than is possible on the older USB2 standard.

You pay a price for the speed of course, the USB 16GB JumpDrive costs about double what the USB2 version costs.

If you have a need to shuffle large files onto or off of the drive it may well be worth it.

The JumpDrive S73 series is rated at 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write, pretty solid for a $16 16GB drive. We'll get to the full product specs in a bit. First, some words from Lexar about Lexar.

Given that Lexar is owned by Micron, I expect we'll find Micron flash inside this drive. If I can get it open without a hammer.
