Introduction
Thermaltake was nice enough to send me a pile of power supplies recently, including today's SMART 730w unit.
Thermaltake has a long history of producing excellent products, they took the CPU cooler market by storm some years ago and recently have broken back into that market.

Meanwhile they're making a serious push in the power supply market as well, with PSUs ranging from ~1500w Gold rated units down to inexpensive 430w 80+ units. They also make some excellent cases, fans, and other such things.
They have the following to say about themselves on Thermaltake.com:
|
"Values & Principles
- While still a relatively young company, established in 1999, Thermaltake is built on unwavering will and dedication to address issues and innovate at the same time for computer enthusiasts and corporate users worldwide .

- Always striving to be the best, we continuously benchmark our performance against the very best internally and externally.
- Customers are our greatest asset and Thermaltake does not take that for granted. That is why Thermaltake is the industry leading in customer service and customer support with around-the-clock automated product return service."

Todays PSU is on the larger end of Thermaltake's new Smart series of PSUs. The goal of the Smart series is to bring quality PSU construction down to an affordable price bracket. Thermaltake describes their goal with the Smart series thusly:
| "SMART Series Power Supplies are for those who are upgrading, repairing or building a system and want a power supply that just works. Many power supplies can be offered with unnecessary or inflated features that do not benefit the everyday web surfer or gaming system. SMART Series power supplies are tested on live fully functioning systems to ensure the best compatibility with actual system components. This translates into a better user experience and a power supply offering that is designed to work and work well." |
I like the concept, lets take a look at the ThermalTake SMART 730w unit itself!
