Verdict and Conclusion
The last Pyro drive blew me away. Well let me tell you, the Patriot Pyro SE SSD takes that same drive and adds a whole bunch of power to it. Write speeds are completely unreal. In some benchmarks they are just as fast as read speeds. That is quite an accomplishment if I do say so.
It was refreshing to not see a large drop off in performance with an operating system installed either.
If you are looking for a big beefy SSD the Pyro SE would be an excellent choice. This drive was even able to take down the highly regarded M4.
As with other drives, Windows FEELS faster. Loading is pretty much instantly no matter what you do. Battlefield 3 loaded much faster than it did on my mechanical hard drive. For single player games it is highly recommended to install them to your SSD, but games like Battlefield 3 where you have to wait for others in multiplayer it can be frustrating to be TOO fast.
As of writing the Patriot Pyro SE SSD can be found for around $400 after rebate. That is not too bad for a drive of this speed. It would be nice for the price to come down but you can't have it all. If you want the best you have to pay for it.
Do keep in mind though that the drive does slow down the more you fill it, so keeping it mostly empty will make things run the fastest.
The Patriot Pyro SE SSD is easily the fastest drive we have had the opportunity to test at Funky Kit. Throughout testing it just blew me away with how fast it is. The write speeds are just unreal. If you are looking for a top of the line drive, this is it. Just be prepared to spend the money to get the best.
