Verdict and Conclusion Let me lead off this section by saying that I am impressed. With that out of the way, lets look at the high and low points! The drive is fast. Very fast. Extremely fast, even. In the crucial-to-daily-use 4K, 4K-64Thrd and 4K-QD32 tests the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB MaxIOPS stomped all comers in read. This translates into an amazingly fast boot/program load process. Price wise the MaxIOPS is towards the top. It comes with a rebate to lessen the sting, but this kind of performance does not come cheap. Coming with a 3.5" adapter and screws is a nice touch, some cases still don't have 2.5" mounting holes for use with SSDs! OCZ's firmware checking and flashing software is an absolute snap to use, which is good as it's a good idea to use it to make sure your drive is up to date when you get it.
The drive looks great, it's almost a shame to install it in a drive bay where you cannot see it. The OCZ Vertex 3 240GB MaxIOPS scores extremely well on the entirely subjective "how does windows feel?" test, it's the best SSD I've had my hands on so far in this test.
All told, there are pros:
Life being life, there are cons too:
All said and done I am quite impressed and award the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB MaxIOPS a smooth 9.5/10.
