Verdict and Conclusion

After testing the Radeon 6570 from HIS I was expecting something much like that card. Mediocre performance out of the box but you need to overclock it to bring out its full potential.

Well, these cards are completely opposites. The 7750 means business out of the box. This card is an absolute powerhouse for running only on the power of the PCIE connector. The first time I loaded up Battlefield 3 and was able to play on Ultra at 1920x1200 I was absolutely shocked. Sure it was not super playable but the fact that you could in fact play the game was absolutely fantastic.

Once the card gets overclocked you bring out the real performance in demanding games. Most of the synthetic benchmarks did not see much of an increase if at all, but the more demanding areas saw a good increase in performance from overclocks. The fact that HIS uses greatly underrated memory means that you can crank the memory speed easily and not have to worry about anything.

The HIS iCooler heatsink did its job properly Throughout testing the card was very quiet and kept the card nice and cool. While it does not put out a ton of heat the fact that the heatsink does its job is just one less thing you have to worry about.

One thing I would really like is if HIS made a 7750 with a PCI-e power connector for overclockers. This card easily has the ability to do over 1ghz core but it does not have enough power supplied to it due to only being powered by the PCI-e connector.

If this card is priced around $100 it would be a good buy, but if it is much past that I would suggest stepping up to a better video card from a past generation. However, if you are limited to only using a video card that is self-powered this card is extremely fast for consuming small amounts of power.

Final words.

The Radeon 7750 is not the fastest card out there, but it does however offer a fantastic power to performance ratio that no other card currently on the market can match. When a card can be this small and run punishing games with high settings at relatively playable framerates you are doing something right.

Good:

  • Great cooler
  • Nice warranty
  • Case-Sticker (I'm a sucker for them)
  • 55w of Power consumption
  • Does not need external PCIe Power
  • Overclocks well
  • Uses CGN architecture

Bad:

  • Not the fastest
  • No voltage control

SCORE
8.1/10
