Conclusion, Rating, and Final Thoughts

The HE720 drive from ADATA sure is targeted at a small market. It is more for someone who has a  aluminum bodied laptop or wants a thin and lightweight external hard drive.  The styling is a very sophisticated look that matches up with many of the aluminum pc cases out there or laptops with an aluminum case.

When it comes to the size of the HE720 it is quite small. It is about the same size and weight as a smartphone This can be very handy for travel since it is possible to throw the drive into your pocket and have 500GB of storage at your disposal.

The looks of the drive are quite good. Throughout testing I did not scratch the beautiful looking aluminum chasis even though it was dropped a couple of times.

Size-wise it is decently sized around the same size as a smartphone and hardly weighs anything. It certainly can be put into a pocket and you will not have to worry about comfort at all.

Shopping around the internet the HE720 can be found for right around $80.This price lines up with other products in its capacity and size category. You mostly pay for the size and thickness since much larger drives can be found for not much more money.

Pros:

  • Small size
  • Lightweight
  • Aluminum construction
  • USB 3.0

Cons:

  • Aluminum leaves fingerprints
  • Slow speeds

Final Thoughts

The drive is quite stylish and small. If you are looking for a compact external hard drive to match with your laptop or aluminum PC the HE720 certainly fits the bill. However, this drive certainly does not break any speed records so very large file transfers suffer as a result.

8.0/10
