Sounds very interesting ...Quad core Atom CPUs from Intel coming for tablets. The tablet wars has just heated up!
"At Computex 2013, Hermann Eul, general manager of Intel's Mobile and Communications Group, unveiled new details about the company's forthcoming Intel Atom processor-based SoC for tablets (Bay Trail-T) due in market for the 2013 holiday season.
Based on the new Silvermont microarchitecture, the next-generation 22nm Intel technology for tablets and ultra-mobile devices will enable eight or more hours of battery life and weeks of standby, as well as support Android and Windows 8.1, Intel said.

Eul also spoke to recent momentum and announcements around the smartphone business and demonstrated the Intel XMM 7160 multimode 4G LTE solution, now in final interoperability testing (IOT) with first-tier service providers across North America, Europe and Asia.
Eul discussed Intel's focus on enabling a richer media and content experience by improving graphics performance. He then highlighted the tablet platform's new Gen 7 graphics that will offer more than three times the graphics capabilities, with support for DirectX11 for expanded PC application and game support.
The new Intel Atom processor-based platform comes equipped with hardware-based security with McAfee Live Safe. This digital life protection suite keeps online identity private, protects from phishing attacks and keeps data secure while protecting the devices."

I'm a BIG Star Trek fan and when I saw this ... I was like WOW, gimme gimme!
"No, we're not making this up. We've always thought the Aspire R7 bore an uncanny resemblance to the USS Enterprise, and now it appears that Acer's officially in on the fun, too.

Our friends at Engadget Chinese stumbled upon a new version of the starship-esque convertible at Acer's Computexbooth today -- the company manufactured just 25 of these special-edition notebooks, one of which it plans to offer up on eBay from June 14th through the 24th, with all proceeds going to charity. This variant is unique enough for us to look past the device's shortcomings, and perhaps place a bid of our own. Star Trek (and industrial design) fans can get their fix in the eyes-on gallery just below."
