Posted by Dexter K.
Tuesday, 29 January 2013 07:06

Founded in 2006 iLuv is still a relatively new face. They have mostly been known for their iphone accessories but recently it appears that they are branching out to cover accessories for more types of devices.

While the name may sound a bit apple-centric they sure cover a wide variety of other devices. Various Samsung phones and Tablets all have iLuv cases as well as all of the different Kindle devices.

CES 2013: Steelseries and Razer Print E-mail

Part 1: Razer

Razer was certainly busy at CES 2013. The most notable device featured is their new gaming tablet. Packing a Quad-core processor and a Geforce 640 it certainly beats traditional tablets in terms of power. But that power will cost you at $999 it certainly is a bit harder pill to swallow compared to the $200 tablets out there.

CES 2013: Zalman Coolers, Cases, GPUs & PSUs Print E-mail
Posted by Ed Smith

Part One: Zalman Coolers

Zalman first came to my attention in the days of socket 462 and AMD Athlon chips, they had an aftermarket heatsink that produced very good temps with very little noise, a very rare thing back then! Since that point Zalman has continued to come out with interesting and effective coolers, I'm sure you've seen something from their Orb series at some point! At CES Zalman had a couple brand new coolers they were showing off. Both of them are innovative enough that they got the coveted CES Innovation awards! That's a good trick these days, most heatsink strategies have been played out by this point.

The first cooler we'll look at is Zalman's take on the All In One water cooling market. It's an Orb type cooler, very different than the usual setups. The name is a bit up in the air at the moment, but it sounds like it will be known as the C.I. Water Cooler.

No standard radiator here! Lots of surface area too, Zalman said it's along the lines of a 240mm radiator performance wise, but of course it fits a 120mm fan opening!

Hit Read More for another pic, as well as to see Zalman's other CES award winning cooler, a case, PSUs, and more!

CES 2013: Micron Reveals Functional DDR4, Plus M500 Series SSDs Print E-mail
Posted by Ed Smith
Thursday, 10 January 2013 17:47

The stick of RAM you see above is something new. Very new. It's the first functional DDR4 I've found. DDR4 comes with some interesting new features. The most obvious of them is the connector, they added a few dozen pins and also made the center of the PCB stick down further. This makes for better contact with the socket and reduces issues when motherboards flex while installing the RAM.

micron-ddr4-1

DDR4's slowest spec speed right now is 2133MHz, JEDEC official speeds are expected to be as high as 3200MHz! That's a big change from DDR3, which starts at 800MHz and tops out at 1600MHz.

We have a number of pics to share, so hit Read More to see them, and of course to read more about Microns new stuff!
