HKEF 2016 – Nexpaq Modular Smartphone Case

At FunkyKit we are a fan of crowdfunding projects, it’s such an innovative idea to not only get financial backing but also an initial means to gather feedback from backers, as highlighted by Nexpaq. The Hong Kong community is a keen admirer of kickerstarters, so it was not surprising that during our coverage of HKEF 2016, we came across a section of Hall 3 which was dedicated to kickstarter projects. One area was set up by iStartup@HK which is backed by the Hong Kong government offering a platform for crowdfunding projects.

It was at the iStartup@HK stand that we were invited by Nexpaq to showcase their project.

Nexpaq

Nexpaq first launched their Kickstarter campaign on 28 April last year and within just a few days had already reached the financial target that was set, and just a month later had already raised nearly USD$280,000 from 1,934 backers, and these backers will have their products shipped this summer.

“Nexpaq is the first modular smartphone case that allows you to seamlessly customize, enhance, and add new functions to your existing smartphone through the use of small squares, called modules. You don’t even need to turn off your phone when adding modules; simply slide them in to the back of the case to give your smartphone extra powers like more battery, a stronger speaker, or new sensing capabilities and exotic functions you never thought possible (temperature readings, pollution measurement, night vision cameras, blood-glucose meters, and more).”
