I gave up with AMD at AM2 it was a 6000+ 64 X2 with a fairly expensive MSI mobo What ever I did it was dog slow, yes it worked, but I was so disappointed and all in all not that cheap!
So I tried my usual ASUS fav make mobo with an Intel E8400 dual core. Easily overclockable and 3 Gig to start with. With cool running 45 nm architecture.
What a difference, not that expensive either. From now on it's Intel for me, unless AMD come up with a real Intel killer, but I somehow doubt it now.  AMD seem to be spending all their resources on Graphics cards.

Still got a socket 939 with a 4000+ and a AM2 with x2 3800, still going strong.

I remember a time when AMD mobos were all the rage a few years ago. Seems Intel mobos has retained a strong position these days.

Yes it seems that way. If I where to build a new computer now I would probably go down the Intel route.

AMD don't seem to be able catch up at the moment.
