Toshiba Adds Full-HD Video Processor To Line-Up Of Products For High-Resolution Automotive Panels

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs; today launched the newest addition to its line-up of video processors for high-resolution automotive displays. The TC90175XBG provides support for full high-definition (HD) panels with 1920×1080 pixel resolution, as well as incorporates a new, built-in picture improver circuit that delivers contrast quality superior to that of Toshiba’s earlier products1.

“Displays are increasingly used in vehicles, not only for navigation but also for other driver support applications – in turn, prompting increased demand for larger, higher-resolution display panels,” said Deepak Mithani, senior director, Mixed-Signal Business Unit, System LSI Group at TAEC. “Our customers in the automotive industry need the flexibility to accommodate drivers’ varying requirements, and Toshiba is committed to continuing to expand our line-up of automotive video processing ICs to meet evolving demands.”

The Toshiba TC90175XBG processor’s full HD capability improves on the support for wide VGA (800×400) provided by earlier products2. Its pin layout is compatible with the TC90195XBG, launched earlier this year, which supports composition of two pictures in a single display. The TC90175XBG has a reduced frame memory and targets applications that do not require two-picture composition. Users can select the IC they require for their application.

Like the TC90195XBG, the new TC90175XBG processor can simultaneously output two digital video signals to two panels from two different input signals, and the picture-separation function can split one input signal into two and output them independently to two panels, at resolutions including 1920×1080 (LVDS output) and 1366×768 (LVTTL output). The TC90175XBG’s two-channel picture-improver adds two new area-adaptive gamma-correction circuits to the existing dynamic YC gamma, color management and HVD enhancement capabilities. The processor also features a 10-bit AD converter, timing controller and 1.2V / 3.3 V power supply.
