The biggest electronics manufacturer in the world, wants to make sure they still hold the crown by creating more smartphones and tablet PCs ... this time for Vizio.
"Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has landed OEM orders of smartphones and tablets for US-based LCD TV vendor Vizio. Market sources indicated that Vizio aims to challenge leading vendors such as Samsung Electronics and Sony in the consumer electronics (CEs) market. There will be over 45 vendors competing in the tablet PC market, and a price war is expected to happen, market sources estimate. Prices for tablet PC are expected to drop up to 30-40%.
Vizio plans to showcase its 4-inch smartphone, the Via Phone, and the 8-inch tablet PC, the Via Tablet, at the upcoming CES 2010 in Las Vegas, and is eyeing the demand from customers who cannot afford high-price Apple products with with friendly pricing."
