Even though it’s been six years since the first Dead Island was released, Dead Island 2 hasn’t been abandoned. According to Deep Silver, the game’s publisher, the sequel is currently in development. Sumo Digital, a British game developer, is actively working on the title.

Sumo Digital was brought in to work on the game in 2016 following Yager Entertainment’s decision to no longer work on the project.
Dead Island 2 has been openly discussed since 2013, but it’s continued to be delayed.
