Dell selling Polish PC plant to Foxconn PDF Print E-mail

"Dell has now announced that, in order "best serve" its regional customers and strengthen its long-term position in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, it has agreed to sell the PC manufacturing facility in Lodz, Poland to Foxconn.

The sale is expected to simplify Dell's global operations and make them more efficient without actually changing much as the company will be Foxconn's customer and purchase desktops and laptops made in Lodz.

"Extending our relationship with Foxconn allows us to help customers grow and succeed by making the most of their IT investments, in a way they've come to expect from Dell," said Sean Corkery, vice president, Dell supply-chain operations. We're pleased that Foxconn recognizes the knowledge and skills of the Dell Lodz employees and will continue to rely on them to fulfill customer requirements and grow the operation."

The deal between Dell and Foxconn is subject to European Union regulatory approval but it should be closed rather quickly."
