But wait ... isn't LTE supposed to be the better standard? OMG ... we could be seeing another "VHS vs Betamax". Incidently, LTE can offer upto 90-135Mbps, while WiMAX can offer anything between 30-45Mbps. We're talking "real-life" average speeds here.
"WiMax up and running in L.A., Miami, D.C., Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ohio ... Sprint has announced the expansion of its 4G WiMAX network to six new major metropolitan areas today. Sprint customers in Los Angeles; Miami; Washington, D.C.,; Cleveland; Cincinnati; and Columbus, Ohio, can now all take advantage of the high-speed network.
With the addition of the six new cities, Sprint's 4G network is now available in 68 markets across the United States, with San Francisco expected to join the fold on December 28."

"Sharp's evolutionary tablets are coming, people. It's just that they're coming to Japan and they're not going to be terribly affordable when they do arrive. The Kin maker has just revealed a December 10 launch date for its Mobile and Home Galapagos models -- a 5.5-inch slate with 1024 x 600 resolution and a 10.8-incher with 1366 x 800 resolution, respectively -- pricing them at ¥39,800 ($474) and ¥54,800 ($653) for the Japanese market. As usual, direct currency translations are inadvisable, but if you must have a price comparison of some sort, the larger Galapagos model (equipped with an 8GB microSDHC storage card) costs ¥4,000 less than Apple's 32GB WiFi-only iPad."

"The cast aluminum enclosure was very well made and does an excellent job of protecting the internals, as well as dissipating any heat generated by the Toshiba HG2 controller during sustained write operations. Fit and finish was excellent and the drive performed well in our testing. While the HG2 may not be the fastest SSD controller out there, it has proven to be a good match for this application. If pricing holds true once these hit the market, they will be among the most cost effective USB 3.0 SSD solutions out there."

"The Blog Kindle blog has an amusing though serious story about how quickly Amazon's $89 Kindle Black Friday deal disappeared. Billed as a "Lightening Deal," an undetermined number of $89 second-generation Kindles went on sale at 9AM Pacific Time and were gone in a nanosecond. In fact, the deal disappeared so quickly some accused Amazon of never having it.
... Indeed, a lucky few did score discounted Kindles, but it remains unclear how many Amazon actually had available. Of course, you can always troll eBay for used Kindles or try convince your friend who has one sitting in her drawer to sell it to you cheap. Either way, there's probably no reason to get too emotional about this stuff. Unless, of course, you're a dealaholic."

We've published a review on Nesteq's RubberScrew Magnets ... no, it's not a joke. We actually took a look at these magnets, and believe me ... you'll never look at magnets the same way again ;)

When Nesteq sent me these RubberScrew Magnets, I thought it was a joke. I mean, who would want to play with magnets? Anyway, they said that these magnets are ideal for modders and DIY users, who wants to add additional case fans inside the chassis ... at any position, at any angle. Sounds interesting ...

"When I first joined this beat in 2005 Symbian was the dominant mobile platform. Now the foundation that took the platform open source is shutting its virtual doors. The lights go out on the Symbian Foundation December 17, the group announced yesterday. The formal announcement was buried on a Friday holiday weekend, although to be fair Nokia is based in Finland.
The decision was made because Symbian is becoming a mere licensing body, thus it doesn’t need the sites. The Twitter feed and Facebook page will also be going bye-bye."

Sandy Bridge is tantalizingly close, and motherboard makers are starting to show their wares. We take an early look at Gigabyte's P67A-UD7 to see what it has in store.

It's coming to the end of 2010, and AMD is looking for a bumper end of year sales and a better result for Q4. How can they achieve this? ... by heavily pushing it's Radeon HD 6870 series for the Christmas period. AMD spared no expense and at a local computer store, we saw a demonstration of AMD's Radeon Eye-Finity feature, which allow users to use upto 6 monitors for their display supporting full HD!
Nice, but 6 monitors and your Radeon HD 6870 will probably decimate your bank account ;)
