An Exclusive Interview with Patriot Memory

Funky Kit is proud to present an exclusive interview with Patriot Memory, makers of memory kits, SSDs, USB flash drives and storage accessories. In this Q&A session, we ask JR about Patriot’s plans for 2013 and 2014, the future of the company and what new products we can expect going forward. Let’s find out more …

Winston: Q1. Tell our readers more about yourself, the company and a little bit about its history.

JR: Patriot was founded as PDP Systems in 1985, starting out as a classical Silicon Valley company in a small apartment. The founders saw the need and importance of memory at that time. In the beginning, PDP Systems was an OEM manufacturer and provided memory for some renowned brands even today; the brand Patriot was launched in 2004.  In addition to our classical memory business, we have added a wide range of Flash products and are opening up a line for mobile accessories.

Working in marketing at Patriot, I am responsible for corporate communications as well as marketing and advertising on a global level and work with the regional marketing managers in the US, Taiwan and Europe, also supporting product management on product development.

Winston: Q2. Over the past few years, your company has grown from strength to strength. What plans does the company have in place for the second half of 2013?

JR: Next to our focus on memory products, we are planning to grow our portfolio for mobile products and will be launching some new tablet and phone accessories. The AERO series was launched in the first half of 2013 and we are developing new products within this line-up.

Winston: Q3. I’ve noticed over the past 12 months, a lot of manufacturers have shifted their focus to cater for the mobile and notebook markets. Is this something that your company will be expanding on?

JR: Yes, this is something we have been working on since last year. As mentioned earlier, our portfolio includes mobile accessories. The market for mobile products like smartphones and tablets is exciting and still growing. We want to cater to the needs of these users and develop products like, for example, our AERO/FUEL+ line-up to increase the usage and benefits of smartphones and/or tablets.

Winston: Q4. Any big plans for next year in 2014?

JR: We will continue working with our partners to launch high-performance memory for the newest Intel and AMD platforms. At the same time, we will keep going mobile and are looking to grow our portfolio of accessories.

Winston: Q5. Now for something different. What do you think of Funky Kit?

JR: Funky Kit is a great website. Since we are selling our products in more than 100 countries, I particularly like that your website covers more than just one region. You meet the various interests of technology fans so everyone can find something to their taste – hardware, software, mobile – and it of course covers our product spectrum, which is fantastic.

Winston: Q6. And finally your personal thoughts (feel free to express yourself) : ….

JR: Working at Patriot and in the IT business is exciting and is never boring. It is such a fast moving and innovative industry, and even though we have been in business for a long time now, you always see and learn something new.

Thank you for this interview. It is thanks to websites like yours that we are all so well informed of what is going on in the daily IT business.
