Tuesday, 17 August 2010 02:02

"Hynix Semiconductor has announced that it has begun mass producing 64Gb NAND flash chips using 20nm-class technology.

Hynix claimed its 20nm-class process provides a 60% increase in productivity over the existing 30nm-class node. The 20nm-class 64Gb NAND doubles the density in a package over the current 32Gb product, meeting the needs of advanced mobile solutions which require smaller size and higher density storage capacity."

Will AT&T iPhone users really defect for Verizon? PDF Print E-mail
Posted by Will Smith
Tuesday, 17 August 2010 02:00

"Will they stay or will they go? That's the big question AT&T executives are likely asking themselves about the millions of iPhone customers who may consider leaving the operator once the popular smartphone is offered on other carrier networks in the U.S.

While AT&T has not said when its exclusive deal for the iPhone ends, the company has been preparing shareholders for a day when the iconic device will be available to its competitors. Rumor has it that Verizon Wireless, AT&T's chief competitor, will get a version of the iPhone in January."

When this camera becomes available to the public ... it will be one cool gadget!! I think I'll want one. Just imagine all our Funky Kit photos taken in 3D mode!!

"Fujifilm introduces Finepix Real 3D W3 camera. When reviewers call your product "the worst ____ ever made," do you give up and move on? Or do you build a second model and try to prove them wrong? After introducing the world's first consumer stereoscopic 3D shooter to dismal reviews, FujiFilm chose door number two, replacing the camera with a thinner, lighter, and easier-to-use version that addresses a host of complaints and costs $100 less to boot.

The FujiFilm FinePix Real 3D W3 adds a larger 3.5-inch, 16:9 LCD screen, a 720p video recording mode, and HDMI 1.4 out for dropping images and videos right into your 3D-ready TV. Oh, and it actually feels like a real camera this time, our favorite feature by far. We got some hands-on time with the new cross-eyed shooter, read on for more!"

Nikon Digital Camera doubles as a projector PDF Print E-mail

"Nikon S1100pj Second Gen Projector Camera Is Brighter, Cheaper, and Can Project What's On Your Computer.

500x_coolpixxx

The original projector point-and-shoot, the Nikon S1000pj, was undoubtedly a novelty, but it was a novelty we found pretty charming. Its successor, the S1100pj, is 40% brighter, can act as a projector for your computer, and will retail for $350.

The 14.1MP Nikon S1100pj sports a 5x optical zoom lens and ISO up to 6400. It has 17 scene modes, a 5-way image stabilization system, and the ability to shoot 720p video. But there will still be point-and-shoots that will take nicer pictures for the price."

UK ISP blocks jailbreakme.com for iPhone users PDF Print E-mail
Posted by Winston
Tuesday, 17 August 2010 01:42

"... Three has confirmed a claim made first on a social notworking website and which The INQUIRER has independently checked, that the mobile network is blocking jailbreakme.com. Tests by The INQUIRER showed that rather than point users to jailbreakme.com at its address of 174.35.52.142, the Three network sends its users to 92.41.252.3, that is, back to the network operator's own website.

The network told The INQUIRER, "Yes we have tried using our Iphones in the office and we can't get to the website, we are trying to find out why that is."

The INQUIRER's massive legal department was already off to play golf when we called, so we can't be sure, but one might conjecture that Three could be in breach of its contract with its customers over this arbitrary censorship of one website."
