Facebook Brings Workplace Messenger To Desktop

PC and Mac apps for Facebook Workplace are now available. With those apps, you can message people and share your screen. Screen sharing has been a highly requested feature, though it’s exclusive to Workplace for now. It’s unknown if Messenger itself will one day receive the ability.

Facebook Workplace is a Slack competitor that’s currently being used by 14,000 businesses. Slack is much larger, though it’s also been around for a longer period. Workplace debuted a year ago.

This was one of the most widely requested features by customers, so we built it. The desktop app is still in beta and being tested by Workplace customers who are providing feedback that we’ll use to improve the product before a wider rollout,– Vanessa Chan, Facebook
