Volkswagen Announces Plans to Integrate with Amazon Alexa

Volkswagen unveiled its plans to integrate with Amazon Alexa at CES yesterday during a moderated press event and booth tour.

The company will collaborate with Amazon to bring Alexa into the car through a tap-to-talk integration on the head unit. With Alexa in Volkswagen vehicles, drivers will be able to easily perform everyday tasks while in the car and on the road, such as control smart home features, play music, set notifications, and even order replacement parts for the car.

In addition to the in-car Alexa integration, Volkswagen also announced a new Alexa skill that will help car owners get information about their vehicle from inside the home using an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or any Alexa device. The new skill enables users to check fuel levels, order replacement parts, send directions to the car, and more simply by asking Alexa.

More information about Volkswagen’s in-car Alexa integration and new Alexa skill will be announced later this year. CES attendees can preview a live demo of the integration at the Volkswagen booth, located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, Booth 4631.
