Mobile Intel Coffee Lake Core i7-8550U Gets Benchmarked

At first, it was believed the Coffee Lake processors will be made using the new 10nm node, but latest leaks suggest otherwise. The new 10nm node is reserved for the architecture called Ice Lake, while the Coffee Lake will debut with 14nm++ process. Since the launch is very close, we now have more information about the mobile lineup.

The LaptopMedia team has got their hands of Intel Core i7-8550U laptop, revealing its specifications and performance. The chip will be made using a 14nm++ process and pack 4-core/8-thread CPU running at 1.8 GHz, with clocks going up to 3.69 GHz. It has 8 MB of L3 cache memory and the most important thing for notebooks is it is very efficient, with TDP of only 15 W.

According to posted benchmarks it proves to have an excellent performance. Compared to the Core i7-7500U, the new Coffee Lake CPU is around 50% faster, which is definitely impressive.

The site also revealed an image that reveals two more Cofee Lake processors, the i5-8350U and i5-8250U. Both have the same amount of cores and the only difference looks to be base clocks. It is also said that new i5 processors will have 2 MB L3 cache memory less than the i7 series.
