AMD Radeon RX 490 Slated for November 2016

This is probably one of the most exciting news lately … just imagine, 4K gaming and Vulcan support. The new GPUs is reported to have more than 1.5 TFLOPs of power and more than 100 GB/s bandwidth!

“AMD’s next GPU, the Radeon RX 490, is among the most anticipated upcoming chips today. It is unknown, however, if it will arrive in November or be delayed to 2017. There are reports stating that there is a chance that AMD’s Radeon RX 490 will be revealed next month. Although this is what fans would want to hear, there is no official confirmation from the chip maker yet.”

“One of the highlight of AMD’s new GPU is the new Vega 10 architecture. It will be the first to sport the new platform by AMD, which is rumored to be on par with NVIDIA’s Pascal.

As for specs, it can be expected that it will sport more than 1.5 teraflops of performance, perhaps even higher than the RX 480’s 5.8 teraflops. The reasoning behind is that the RX moniker means that the chip can hit 60 frames per second (fps) gaming in 1080p resolution, PC Games N reported.

The 490 name, on the other hand, might denote 4K gaming. With this, it is expected that the new chip will compete directly with NVIDIA’s powerful GTX 1080 or even with their flagship GPU, the Titan X based on Pascal. Once released, a more comprehensive comparison between the AMD Radeon RX 490, NVIDIA GTX 1080 and Titan X can be expected.”
