Crucial Intros 2TB Variant of its MX300 SSD

Crucial introduced a 2 TB variant (physically 2050 GB, not 2048 GB) of its MX300 mainstream SATA solid-state drive (SSD). This capacity is only available in the 2.5-inch form-factor, and not M.2-2280. The drive combines a Marvell 88SS1074 controller with Micron 3D TLC NAND flash memory. It has the same manufacturer performance ratings as the 1 TB variant, with up to 530 MB/s sequential reads, up to 510 MB/s sequential writes; up to 92,000 IOPS 4K random reads, and up to 83,000 IOPS 4K random writes.

The endurance is rated at 400 TBW (compared to 360 TBW of the 1 TB variant), which works out to 219 GB writes per day for 5 years. The feature-set is carried over, too, including Dynamic Write Acceleration, RAIN, and power-loss protection (mitigates data-loss by finishing the outstanding write operation under power from a bank of capacitors). You also get 256-bit AES native encryption and DEVSLEEP support. Backed by a 3-year warranty, the 2 TB Crucial MX300 is priced at USD $550.
