It was good while it lasted ... netbooks made a real impact during mid-2000's. It was an affordable mobile computing concept that took the market by storm ... sad to see it disappear.
"Once a white-hot PC product that sold in the tens of millions of units annually, netbooks are now marking their final days, with the rise of tablets causing their shipments to wind down to virtually zero after next year, according to IHS iSuppli.

Shipments of netbooks this year are forecast to amount to just 3.97 million units, a plunge off the cliff of 72% from 14.13 million units in 2012. The market for the small, inexpensive notebooks had steadily climbed for three years from the time the devices were first introduced in 2007, peaking in 2010 when shipments hit a high of 32.14 million units. Since then, however, the netbook space has imploded and gone into decline - fast."

We've just published a review on the Sapphire HD7850 OC (2GB GDDR5) graphics card. This card also comes in OC version what means we can expect higher frequency for both, graphics core and memory. Clocks are respectively 920MHz for core and 1250MHz (effective 5000MHz) for memory. Here's a snip ...

"Good performance/price factor is clearly biggest advantage of these series. If we add good overclocking and quiet, effective cooling then we get really good graphics card that I could recommend for all who wish to play newer games but don't really need highest graphics details."

Memory prices of DDR3 have pushed the prices of graphic cards up ... by as much as 10-15%. Don't worry, according to Digitimes, this price hike is only short term. We expect prices to normalise in the summer.

"Several graphics card vendors have hiked retail prices for products made with DDR3 in the DIY market by 10-15% in order to reflect the increases in DRAM pricing, according to sources from graphics card vendors.
Since DDR3 memory prices have recently risen by more than 10%, the sources believe the graphics cards are unlikely to see their prices return to previous levels within the next six months unless GPU makers decide to offer promotions for specific models or launch next-generation products.
Since PC demand is still weak, the sources believe that the price raises should not upset consumers or channel retailers greatly in the short term."
