Lucidlogix allows you to run both AMD and Nvidia GPUs in any Sandy Bridge system Print E-mail

Now you can use both AMD and Nvidia GPUs in any Sandy Bridge system. Great news for owners of orphaned graphics cards.

"Lucidlogix has worked out a way to make AMD and Nvidia graphics cards work together side by side on Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge systems. Its virtualisation technology to do this is called Virtu, which will be shown off at the CES show next week, and it aims to make do-it-yourself computers even more idiot-proof.

Some people building their own kit want to shove two or more GPU's together, often from their old machines.

While you can use AMD Crossfire or Nvidia SLI to put multiple graphics cards in one PC, you can't mix and match. Virtu gets around that problem. Designed for entry and mid-level PCs, the software takes instructions from the applications and hands off the tasks to the appropriate card."
