Intel's current enthusiast class chipset the X58 has been around for a few years now, and it's about time Intel had a new revision. Well, that's exactly what's going to happen around the beginning of 2012, according to the leaked slide by Chinese website it.com.cn.. The new chipset will be called X79 and the motherboards that support it, will feature a new 2011-pin LGA sockets for E-series CPUs. These E-series of CPUs are based on an "enhanced" version of the Sandy Bridge, which hopefully we might get to see at the Beijing IDF next week. The new X79 chipset can support upto 14 SATA connections (10 x SATA3 - 6Gb/s and 4 x SATA 2). There will also be some kind of support for Intel's newest data connection, Thunderbolt. At the moment it's all speculation ... Let's see what will really happen.
