Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone Review

Today, we take a quick look at the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone. It offers crisp and clear sound, with good bass. What’s more they come with advanced active noise cancelling (ANC) technology, which helps reduce external noise such as airplane cabin noise, city traffic or busy office … all done with a simple flip of a switch. Another nice feature includes the “monitor mode” allowing you to hear what’s around you without removing the earbuds.

Other features includes the magnetic earbuds, as well as Bluetooth v4.1 ready giving you an operating distance of up to 10m. It’s also sweat-proof ready and offers talk time of up to 13 hours and a standby time of 400 hours.

This is a Linner commercial and does not show the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone in action.

To be honest, I never really liked “neckband” earphones. I find it odd having to wear a neckband with wires coming out of them, for example the Bose QuietControl 30. It just looks weird. But after I got my hands on the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone … all this was about to change.

Now most neckband earphones that I’ve come across are bulky, stiff and rigid, which makes them pretty uncomfortable to wear, not to mention they look pretty ugly. However, the neckband on the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone is soft and flexible, and is thinner than most neckbands I’ve seen.

I’ve been wearing the Linner NC50 for almost a week and I have to say … I’m pretty impressed so far. Before I give you the full verdict, let’s continue with the overview and specifications of the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone.

You can by the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone from Amazon for USD $69.

A Closer Look

The Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone is surprising light-weight and easy to carry around. The neckband itself is soft and flexible, which means you can just fold it away. There are, what appears to be two nodes on each end of the neckband. The node on the right has the on/off switch, a USB charging port and a button for controlling the active noise canceling (ANC) or monitor. The other node on the left I believe, holds the a larger built-in rechargeable battery.

There’s another control nodule on the cable of the right earbuds. This controls volume up, down, answer/hang-up calls, as well as next track, previous track and stop/play.

The earbuds are surprisingly small and compact. They’re much smaller than the Dodocool earphones I tested last month. What I like about them is the magnetic feature, which means you won’t get loose cables dandling everywhere.

Usage

Using the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone was extremely easy. Just make sure it’s fully charged and hold the power button and pair it with your smartphone. In my case, I used an iPhone.

Answer/Receive calls – One click to receive/hang-up. Double click to reject call/redial. Hold for Voice Control.

Music Playback – One click to play/pause. Hold volume-up button for next track, hold volume-down for previous track.

The Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone looks and feel really natural to wear. It doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. The earbuds fit nicely and are very comfortable to wear. Of course, if they are too loose or too tight … then you can always change the size of ear plugs. There are 2 sets of spare inner and outer ear plugs of different sizes that are included.

Verdict and Conclusion

Wow! All I can say is I am mightily impressed with the noise cancelling feature of the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphones. Now, I’ve used several of Bose’s noise cancelling headphones and earphones … and seriously, the Linner NC50 is very comparable and can easily match Bose in that department.

Audio quality is also very good. The sound is crisp and clear with good bass but lacks a little depth. Voice quality was decent for making and answering calls, so no issues there.

Most wireless earphones/earbuds can only offer 4-5 hours continuous use due to their size. The Linner NC50 however, give me a whole day’s worth of usage, or up to 8-10 hours. This is all thanks to it’s larger built-in rechargeable battery found on the end of the neckband.

Which brings me to the feature which I really like most. The neckband is both discrete looking and super comfortable to wear. It’s soft and flexible, and is thinner than most neckbands I’ve seen.

Costing only around $69 on Amazon and $90 on Linner’s website, I think it’s an absolute bargain considering the features you’re getting. You can by the Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphone from Amazon for USD $69.

Final thoughts

I don’t often give awards to accessories like earbuds or earphones but these Linner NC50 Wireless Neckband Earphones are really something else. Most noise canceling earphones cost hundreds more. So just for the noise canceling ability alone, its earned our Editor’s choice award!
