ZOTAC Magnus EN51050 Mini Gaming PC Review

Verdict and Conclusion

The Zotac Magnus EN51050 is nice compact mini PC that’s designed for the budget conscious gamer. It boasts a fast quad core i5-7500T processor running at 2.7GHz (with a boost speed of 3.3GHz) and features a GeForce GTX 1050.

Like its bigger brothers, the EN1080K, EN1070K and the EN1060K, the lower spec’ed EN51050 measures only 210mm x 203mm x 62.2mm in dimensions … Making this unit, and all the other models in the Magnus series, the smallest gaming PCs in the world.

As far as performance is concerned, it performs as you would expect from a Core i5 at 2.7GHz with a GeForce GTX 1050 with 2GB VRAM. Although the Magnus EN51050 is decently spec’ed with an Intel Core i5-7500T, I do feel it’s severely limited by the 2GB of VRAM of the GeForce GTX 1050, hence 3D Mark benchmarks failed to run properly. Now if I was a gamer and I had a brand new PC, the first thing I’ll do is run 3D Mark to see its graphics performance.

Having said that, I know most modern games can run on 2GB of VRAM with no issues, still I say the more the better … especially for gamers. If Zotac used the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti for their Magnus EN51050 instead, which uses 4GB of VRAM … then I think it will be much better.

Priced at USD $699 for a bare bones unit, I think it’s a little bit too pricey for my liking. Remember, this is a bare bones unit, which means you’ll have to buy your own DDR4 ram and hard drive. If it was sub $500~550, then I would consider it.

Final words:

If you really fancy a mini gaming PC, but on a tight budget, then take a look at the Zotac ZBOX Magnus EN51050. It’s decently spec’ed and will run must modern games, but don’t expect too much from it. However, please note that it is a bare bones unit, so you’ll still need to buy DDR4 SODIMMs and a hard drive for it.
