CRYORIG A80 AIO Water Cooling Kit Review

Performance

CRYORIG setup

CRYORIG A80 has been tested on a quite popular setup which is based on Intel Core i5 6600K processor overclocked to 4.2GHz. Tests were performed at about 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm fan speed. 1000 rpm was the speed which all was still quiet. 1500 rpm was already noisy but was performing better.

On this platform additional HCL airflow fan wasn’t making any difference to processor temperature. I guess to see the difference we would need higher wattage platform which also heats up motherboard’s power section more.

Let’s take a look at the test results.

I was pretty surprised to see that CRYORIG A80 was performing better than the custom water cooling based on two 360 radiators. I clearly made something wrong building that custom kit. Probably it’s too weak pump. It doesn’t change fact that A80 results are great.

I was trying to lower the noise which was acceptable at about 1000 rpm. For comparison there are results at 1000 and 1500 rpm. In both cases A80 can cool i5 6600K overclocked to 4.2GHz pretty good and there is still some headroom for more. 1500 rpm is offering slightly better performance but generated noise can be already annoying for many users. Everyone can adjust speed using motherboard’s BIOS settings. Depends what airflow is in the case, results can be better or worse. Personally I had better experience on MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard than on the ASUS Maximus VIII Hero.

Below is also graph which is presenting all the results. Reference Intel cooler results are not complete. Maximum temperature exceded 100°C and then PC shut down.

If anyone is interested about results on i7 6700K processor then I can say that temperature would be about 2-3°C higher under full load and in other cases would be about the same as on i5 6600K.

CRYORIG A80 is showing great performance and so far is the best cooling we had a chance to test on the Funky Kit. I guess we will see even better version of the A80 AIO cooling in some time as CRYORIG is constantly improving its products.

If you are thinking about AIO water cooling then it’s really worth to take a closer look at CRYORIG products.
