Let’s move to the product photos where I add some more about the NH-L9x65 SE-AM4.

Noctua NH-L9x65 arrived in a retail package which is a nice looking box with many descriptions on the outside. We clearly know what we are buying.

Inside the box we can find everything we need to install our new cooler. There is full AM4 mounting kit in two versions which let us choose perfect orientation for our other components. It’s more important for larger coolers as NH-L9x65 is small enough to not to interfere with anything around the socket.

On the below photo you can see how much space there is after installing the cooler. There is no issue with any other components or even the tallest memory modules.

Heatsink shows top quality of Noctua manufacturing process. I really like these heatsinks with heatpipes, they look great.

Base is made of nickel plated copper and it’s well polished as you can see below. Thermal grease is spreading well on this surface. Of course in the package with cooler is high performance thermal material – NT-H1, so you don’t have to buy anything else. It’s actually one of the best options on the market.

Installation is really simple and all you need is in the box. Don’t have to search for any tools. Installation in total takes less than 5 minutes.

Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM fan is also high quality. It has rubber pads to reduce vibration but there are no issues with additional noise on this cooler even at maximum fan speed. We could see maximum fan speed at maximum CPU load when CPU was additionally overclocked. When CPU is not overclocked then fan speed won’t really pass 2000 RPM. In general we can say that fan is quiet and there are no annoying noises like whistling at higher speed what sometimes happens in other products.

Other thing is that AMD set higher temperature offset for Ryzen 1700X and 1800X processors so if we play some with BIOS settings then we can lower generated noise. It’s actually high difference as motherboard sees CPU temperature as 20°C higher and forces fans to spin faster when it’s not always required.
