DJI Mavic Pro vs DJI Spark – Hands-On Review and Comparison

Verdict and Conclusion

I’ve always had my doubts about flying a drone (any drone), fearing I’ll damage and crash it. Normally, learning to fly a drone involves many hours of practice (and crashes), due to its steep learning curve. But after playing with both the DJI Mavic Pro and DJI Spark, all my assumptions and fears instantly evaporated. I felt really confident, and at ease controlling the drones within minutes. All I can say is … DJI, you are seriously TOP DOG when it comes to drones technology.

What makes the drones so easy to control is DJI’s software. Their patented software and amazing collision detection is second to none, seriously. Never will you find a drone, that comes with software that’s so easy to use and setup. When you pair the controller with the App, the whole flying experience takes on a whole new meaning. The Mavic Pro certainly has more range both in distance and battery life, plus it will record video in native 4K.

I’m super impressed by both DJI Mavic Pro and DJI Spark. If I had the money, I’ll buy both. Use the Mavic Pro for 4K video of landscapes and scenary, while the Spark can be used for selfies and presentation.

I’ve listed a quick break down below of the pros and cons, for both the DJI Mavic Pro and DJI Spark.

Pros:

DJI Mavic Pro DJI Spark
  • Full featured drone
  • Shoots 4K video
  • Longer flight time
  • Longer range (distance)
  • 3-axis stabalizer
  • Half the weight of the Mavic Pro
  • Hand gestures
  • Super easy to fly
  • Can be controlled without RC

Cons:

DJI Mavic Pro DJI Spark
  • Heavier than the Spark
  • Larger in dimension than Spark
  • No hand gesture
  • Does not shoot 4K video
  • Only 2-axis stabalzer
  • Shorter flight time

Final words:

Both the DJI Mavic Pro and DJI Spark are very good drones. If you’re a prosumer with some drone flying experience, then go for the Mavic Pro. It’ll give you gorgeous 4K footage, plus longer ranger (distance).

For all you beginners, go for the DJI Spark. It’s super easy to use, gives you full HD 1080p recording. It also features active track, hand gestures and the drone flies by itself! … what more do you want?
