Ballistix Elite 64GB DDR4-3000 Quad Channel Memory Kit Review

Package and its contents

As I already mentioned, we’ve received four 16GB modules packed separately but inside is exactly the same memory which you can find in dual or quad kits. What matters is product number. If it’s the same then memory specification is the same.

If you aren’t sure if memory you wish to buy is compatible with your motherboard then please check Crucial Advisor tool. Motherboard manufacturers usually have long list of tested memory kits which is also good source of info about compatibility.

The Ballistix design hasn’t changed for a while but why change something that is so good. Personally I really like these heatsinks. Ballistix memory has been used also in AMD Ryzen micro ITX build. Article about it you can find here. One memory compatible with all platforms.

Memory modules are dual rank what means that memory IC is on both sides of the PCB. In some situations this type of design also improves performance but not all applications can use it. Right now 16GB memory modules are available only as dual rank while most lower density modules ( 4GB or 8GB ) are single rank.

There are also other differences like dual rank memory is generally harder to overclock than single rank. There are barely any memory kits based on 16GB modules above DDR4-3200 in stores as there are single memory IC which are able to run at this frequency.

At the end of this page of the review couple of photos of the test rig. The Ballistix memory looks great with other high-end components. It’s also perfect choice for all who don’t like too flashy but still great looking PC. I see that many users have enough of RGB lighting in literally everything. On the other hand those who love RGB LEDs can count that soon Ballistix will release Tracer memory series. I hope we will show you this memory in upcoming weeks.

Now let’s move to the next page to take a look at the test results and memory overclocking.
