Conclusion and Verdict

This review is a bit different than a typical memory kit review as it focuses on whole platform. Without the ASRock X299E-ITX/AC motherboard which review wouldn’t be possible and since it took part in significant parts of memory tests and not only, then I decided to also include it in this review.

Both the Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-2666 and the ASRock X299E-ITX/AC are great products and all gamers and enthusiasts will be for sure satisfied.

Even though Ballistix Sport LT doesn’t look like top overclocking memory, it has really high overclocking potential and offers high performance even at default settings. There were no issues at all with compatibility or stability of whole platform in nearly three weeks of various tests. Since it’s SODIMM memory then to make the best of it, is required high-end laptop or special motherboard which will support this type of memory.

I was searching for available high frequency SODIMM DDR4 memory but barely any online store has DDR4-3000 or higher memory kits. Even though some manufacturers are presenting much higher frequencies then their memory is not available in any stores and expected price is quite ridiculous. Here comes Ballistix with Sport LT memory. Memory which is available in most popular computer hardware stores and well priced. It’s also compatible with every motherboard on the market and is covered by great support and lifetime warranty.

The Ballistix Sport LT 8GB DDR4-2666 memory modules are available on Amazon for about $87. I guess you can find them cheaper. Even though it doesn’t look cheap because of constantly raising memory prices then I think it’s quite reasonable if we wish fast SODIMM memory.

I can’t forget about the ASRock X299E-ITX/AC motherboard which let us to perform all tests. It’s really amazing little motherboard. It offers almost as much as full ATX motherboard but all is packed on 17x17cm space. It’s simply impressing.

I assume that not many users will decide on this motherboard because of high price of whole platform but all who do, will be fully satisfied. It’s exactly what you expect when you think of the best available but at the same time really small motherboard. Amazon has this motherboards for about $510. It’s not cheap but all motherboards based on the Intel X299 chipset are expensive and if you wish top mini ITX motherboard on the market then there is only one choice.

ASRock is the only one who decided to release product like this and we can only guess if it’s because of great engineers or something else. Regardless what it is, it proves that ASRock motherboards are exceptional.

Since I’m really impressed of what the ASRock X299E-ITX/AC offers then it’s also my top pick and well deserved Editor’s Choice Award!
