Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4-2666 Memory Kit Review

Performance

Performance has been tested on an Intel Kaby Lake platform based on i7 7700K processor and ASUS Maximus IX APEX motherboard. Processor in all tests had 4.2GHz for comparison purposes but also so our readers could compare results to their home computers.

In 3D tests has been used EVGA GTX1080Ti graphics card which should provide optimal results for comparison in new benchmarks.

First test as usual is AIDA64.

HyperX FURY DDR4-2666 performs good but let’s say not much above standard. It offers typical performance for DDR4-2666 single rank memory kit. Of course it’s also good as profiles are well set and results are a bit better than on other DDR4-2666 memory kits in our comparison.

HyperPi 32M is showing that dual rank memory kits can be faster in some applications. In most games we won’t see that difference. HyperPi 32M is actually the only our benchmark which is showing so big difference because of memory ranks.

HyperX Fury performs quite good comparing to other memory kits so there is nothing to complain about.

In Cinebench R15 results are also good. We can see that to have couple of points more we will have to get much faster memory kit what is not always worth to pay premium. HyperX Predator DDR4-3333/3466 should offer about as high performance and the best memory kit in our comparison.

3DMark and PCMark benchmarks are based on games and popular applications and should provide results close to real world performance in home and office environment. As we can see, regardless of used memory results are almost the same.

If you are building computer for games then of course faster memory is better but sometimes it’s worth to think if not better will be to spend price difference on a larger or faster SSD drive or other component. HyperX Fury provides good balance between price and performance for most users.
