Corsair Vengeance K70 Review (Cherry MX Brown)

Performance

K70 straight K US

As a reviewer I need to type a lot, what is obvious I think. All the reviews and blogs on the site are written from nothing, the only things that are copy past are the press releases and features and specifications information about products. So typing whole reviews on a bad or uncomfortable keyboard is not really fun. But do not worry about the Corsair Vengeance K70, it is a great keyboard. It is a full mechanical keyboard, not like the K60 what was a semi mechanical one, with MX brown switches plus it is backlighted to with red LEDs you can turn on/off and even choose which ones to light up.

I am also a gamer at heart and I play all kinds of games: First Person Shooters, Role Playing Games and sometimes even a Stratagy game. With a good and responsive keyboard you will have a lot more fun while playing cause you will not have your keyboard not registering your presses thanks to the anti ghosting feature. After using a keyboard for some time you will get used to it and know all the keys, how hard you need to press and fully use the features.

The keyboard features Cherry MX brow switches, I used MX red ones in the past but I can not really tell you which ones I prefer. I love them both, alhough I really want to try MX Blue and MX black switches when I have the chance.

 Verdict

Now folks that was the review of the Corsair Vengeance K70, let us now review the pros and the cons of this keyboard as usual. This is a fully fledged mechanical keyboard, that means there are no rubber dome switches used (like the K60 for example) with or cherry MX Brown, MX Blue or MX Red switches. There is something for everyone. The keyboard also features dedicated media keys and an awesome volume wheel, as a music lover I use them a lot. Corsair also made the K70 a backlighted keyboard with red LEDs which you can customize to only light up the keys you want, very nice feature. The included wrist rest is soft and comfortable, plus is it the same length of the keyboard itself.

The keyboard itself is made out of aluminum what results in a great looking keyboard with some weight and strength. Another plus on the keyboard is that there is no additional software required to use this keyboard, what is great. On the otherside, it would be cool to see the keyboards USB passthrough to be USB 3.0 or SuperSpeed. But that is actually my only negative point on this keyboard.

Pros:

– Fully fledged mechanical keyboard, available with Cherry MX Blue, MX Brown and MX Red switches

– Awesome dedicated media keys with volume wheel

– Fully customisable backlight with red LEDs

– Comfortable full size wrist rest

– Strong and sturdy aluminum chassis

– No software required

Cons:

– USB passthrough is not SuperSpeed (USB 3.0)

Final Words:

If you are looking for a good mechanical keyboard with lots of options, I can really recommend the Corsair Vengeance K70. With dedicated media buttons, full illumination and a wrist rest the keyboard is just amazing! Pricing is also really fair: 128 Euro/ 105£ / 113$ (Prices from Amazon) you can probably find them cheaper somewhere else, just a price indication.
