EpicGear ZorA IR LED Gaming Mouse Review

Not all gaming mice are made equal, personal preferences means that in a lifetime of a gamer, he/she will go through a dozen or so gaming mice. When you look for a gaming mouse, most will look for all or a combination of DPI, tweaking software, low latency, hand placement adjustments, weights and number of buttons. Whilst some mice on the market will sport a futuristic look to it, and probably have most of the functions I just mentioned, what about those that still look a bit ‘retro’; no customization in hand position, and just the minimal number of buttons? Can these ‘basic’ gaming mice compete against the ones that are more ‘advanced’?

Today, with a big thanks to EpicGear, we will be taking a look at the ZorA IR LED gaming mouse and see if it can compete with the best gaming mice on the market.

ZorA

Co-developed by pro gamers, every line and curve of the symmetrically shaped, right-handed ZorA, is designed for extreme support and perfectly balanced grip. The separated button-cover design provides absolute clicking precision and feedback, while the adjustable weight system provides hassle-free flexibility of adjusting ZorA to the preferred weight.

ZorA is equipped with an IR LED sensing solution that is driven by the EpicGear-tuned gaming precision firmware to deliver superior gaming accuracy and stability.  ZorA is also dynamically programmable from button assignment, DPI, gaming profiles and USB report rate via dedicated GUI software.

The ZorA comes in a choice of either black or white, and as you can see from the chart above, the ZorA is EpicGear’s first adjustable weight gaming mouse. What is surprising is how low the DPI is on the ZorA, nearly half that of the other gaming mice in EpicGear’s range. The DPI sensor is an Avago ADNS A3050 and offers an EG-tuned precision lens and firmware for it, and the DPI can be adjust on the fly with a press of a button on top of the mouse which we will cover later.
