Steelseries Rival Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look

First of all why not take a look at the packaging of the Rival mouse.

The packaging is simple, just black with a big picture of the Rival on the front and when you open the cover you can see some more information and features + the mouse itself.

I do like boxes like this so people can look at the product itself when they are in the store. on the back  and the side of the box there is some more information.

But packaging is not really interesting. so let us look at the mouse itself?

Behold the Steelseries Rival, the whole mouse is covered in an anti-sweat coating except for the two upper sides of the mouse cause they have rubber grips for (obviously) a better grip. Then we have 2 illuminated zones, on the top by the scroll wheel and where the Steelseries logo is situated. Same like the Siberia Elite you can choose out of 16.8 Million colors what is nice amount of colors.

Then about the mouse switches, they are developed by Steelseries themselves and this is what they have to say about them:
“Our proprietary SteelSeries engineered switches have a lifetime of over 30 million clicks and are the high-speed conduit between the sensor and mouse clicks. The audible mouse click is subtle, while delivering quick, tactile responsiveness.”

I do like the fact you can hear a little click, so you are sure you pressed it, and with 30 million clicks you can uses the mouse for a long, long time. Then the middle mouse button or scroll wheel is really easy to press and does not move when you press it. I find this really important as I use this button to melee my enemies in all games you can melee, like battlefield, Titanfall, Call of Duty,… You are maybe wondering what the little button under the scroll wheel is, well that is to easily switch between your 2 predetermined CPI (actually the same as DPI) settings. In some games it is better to have a low CPI while in others a low CPI is preferable.

This is the left side of the mouse, where you can see the rubber grip and two large buttons, the last a bit larger then the first. They are really easy in use and do not need a lot of force to press and I like that. the Rubber grip is nice as well because you just have more grip on the mouse.

Then the right side of the mouse in not really that special you have a big rubber area just like the left side.

Now let us get to the performance of the Rival
