ASRock AB350M Pro4 (AM4) Motherboard Review

Thanks to ASRock, we’ll be taking a look at the ASRock AB350M Pro4 Motherboard. This motherboard comes in a micro-ATX form factor and features AMD’s B350 chipset, suitable for all Ryzen processors (AM4 socket), including their newest APUs

A couple of months ago, AMD launched their newest APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) in the form of the Ryzen 5 2400G with integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 graphics. This is was a real game changer. Yes, that’s right … Radeon RX Vega graphics built right into chip!

It’s one of the most value packed 4-core/8-thread processors available on the market. Not only is it faster than its sibling the Ryzen 5 1400, but it now features integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 graphics over the much established Zen architecture. There are a total of 11 Vega compute units running at up to speeds of 1,250MHz. This is faster than Intel’s Kaby Lake integrated graphics with 20 compute units clocked at 1,011MHz.

The integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 offer a ton of advanced graphics features, and gives this processor a huge advantage over other CPUs with integrated graphics. We’ve heard users have been able to play Overwatch and PUBG at 4K with no issues at all.

The Ryzen 5 2400G is based on the new Raven Ridge design, and the only down side is that the supported PCIe lanes has dropped from x16 to x8. But, we haven’t noticed any real performance issues with our NVMe SSDs or standalone graphics card.

I would like to thank ASRock for providing the review sample. This is a snippet from what ASRock has to say about themselves on their website:

ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.

ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.

We’ll be using the ASRock AB350M Pro4 motherboard, along with the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G for our benchmark tests, and putting them through its paces, as well as comparing it with the Intel Core i5-7600K (plus Z270 motherboard). I’m hoping the performance will exceed my expectations … let’s find out and see.

You can buy the ASRock AB350M Pro4 Motherboard from Amazon for around USD $89 – https://amzn.to/2vkOdW5
