ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming ITX/ac Motherboard Review

Installation

Although this mini-ITX motherboard is TINY … I mean really tiny, measuring just 17×17cm, we’re still able to mount a pretty large CPU cooler, and a standard size graphics card on the PCIE x16 slot.

Surprisingly, all the power connectors for motherboard are there … including the full 24pin ATX and the 8pin ATX 12V.

As you can see from the above photos, memory installation can be a little tight, and there’s not a lot of room around the processor socket, which means you’ll need to make sure you have adequate cooling within your chassis.

The BIOS

The BIOS has two interfaces. One is the EASY mode (blue), which shows you all the relevant information about the system, including fan speeds and temperature readings. You can also set your XMP profile for memory and one button click for overclocking (Turbo Boost upto 4.3GHz)

The other page is the “Advanced Mode” (in red), and allows you to change tons of options, including memory timings, voltage adjustments, CPU ratios and much more.

You can also enable/disable onboard devices, such as LAN, audio and integrated graphics, as well as changing boot priorities of hard drives/SSDs.

The star of the show for me is the onboard Intel Thunderbolt 3 option. I’ve only seen Thunderbolt 3 on more expensive higher-end motherboards, so having this is a great added bonus.

Thunderbolt 3

We tested the Thunderbolt 3 feature using the Zotac AMP Box Mini with a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics card installed. It seem to detect the device with no issues.
