Overclocking
Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed, so the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware and it will not be covered by warranty.
After some tweaking in the BIOS, I was able to overclock the Core i5-7640X from a default of 4.0GHz to a whopping 5.1Ghz. That’s an extra 1.1GHz overclock … not bad!
Here’s a screenshot of the BIOS settings to achieve my overclock. CPU vcore was increased to 1.35V, while the CPU cache ratio was set to x40. Everything else was left at default or Auto.
Load Temperatures
During our stress test, the load temperatures reached a high of 91 degrees Celsius. Needless to say, I was extremely concerned … a very good CPU cooler is highly recommended. In this case we suggest using custom water cooling or a AIO unit.
