Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero (Z270) Motherboard Review

Verdict and Conclusion

Wow, that’s all I have to say and I’m serious. I never thought that the price premium on Asus products was really worth it, until now. The Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero Motherboard is truly one fantastic motherboard. The performance and stability is excellent and a lot of thought have been put into making this motherboard. From the easy to use BIOS to the host of extra features you’ll get.

In our benchmark and performance tests, we compared the Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero against the Gigabyte Aorus Z270 Gaming K5, and guess what … the ROG Maximus IX Hero came out on top every time.

For extra features, the ROG Maximus IX Hero comes with …

  • 4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 4133 (OC)
  • Intel® I219V Gigabit ethernet LAN
  • 2 x M.2 connectors for SSDs
  • ASMedia® USB 3.1 controller
  • ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC S1220
  • Supports NVIDIA® 2-Way SLI™ Technology
  • Supports AMD 3-Way CrossFireX™ Technology
  • MemOK! Button
  • ReTry Button
  • Safe Boot Button
  • Start Button
  • Reset Button
  • ROG Aura

And if that’s not enough to satisfy all you hardcore enthusiasts out there … then I don’t know what will.

Overclocking was a breeze with this motherboard. Using the option-rich BIOS, I was able to overclock the retail boxed Core i7 7600K (Kaby Lake) to a whopping 4.95 Ghz with ease! A feat which I was unable to achieve with the Gigabyte Aorus Z270 Gaming K5.

You can purchase the Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero motherboard on Amazon for around USD $229, which is a premium over other Z270 gaming motherboards on the market. But having said that, it’s definitely one purchase you have to put on the very top of your shopping list. I leave you with this thought … “you’ll get what you pay for”. • None whatsoever

Final Thoughts

Frankly speaking, the Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero is in our mind, the best Z270 based gaming motherboard you can buy sub USD $250. The board is absolutely feature-packed and the performance is just astounding. TAKE MY MONEY Please!
