EVGA X299 Micro Motherboard Review

Verdict and Conclusion

I must admit, I’m a huge fan of micro ATX and mini ITX motherboards. So when I got our hands on a high-end X299 micro ATX motherboard from EVGA, I was super excited to see what it can do. I have to tell you … I wasn’t disappointed. I love the size, the performance, and the features.

Performance wise, you can see from the results and score of our benchmarks, the EVGA X299 Micro performed nicely and falls in line with what we expected from an Intel Core i5-7640X. So no complaints here.

I also like the fact that this motherboard can support 2-way SLI (Nvidia GeForce GPUs), most micro ATX motherboards (Intel based) that I’ve come across lately, only supports Crossfire (AMD Radeon GPUs), so this a great bonus!

Overclockers will be happy too. With just a few simple adjustments in the BIOS, I was easily able to overclock the Core i5-7640X to a whopping 5.1GHz (default is 4.0GHz). Nice. For the extreme overclocker, you’ll have tons of options in the BIOS to tweak your voltages and memory timings, not to mention the very useful diagnostic LEDs, reset, power-on and clear CMOS buttons.

The EVGA X299 Micro costs around USD $289.99, which is towards the higher-end of the spectrum for most micro ATX motherboards. Still, it’s under $300 and I think it’s well worth considering, given the fact that it has some much to offer.

You can buy the EVGA X299 Micro motherboard direct from EVGA’s website for USD $289.99, which I think is accurately priced and well worth it. You can also check out the latest price at Amazon or Newegg

Final words:

The EVGA X299 Micro is without doubt, one of the best X299 micro ATX motherboard available on the market. It performs beautifully and offers good overclocking potential. It’s packed with some great features, and it has everything you’ll ever need to build a mini high-end system for gaming or content creation.
