Sennheiser GSP 300 Closed Acoustic Gaming Headset Review

Design & Comfort

GSP 300

Whilst the GSP 300 keeps Sennheiser’s trademark sleek and refined looks, it does look a little lacking in terms of style. If you compare this with other gaming headsets out in the market, and even Sennheiser’s own G4ME ZERO and G4ME One, the GSP does look very bland, but don’t let this fool you in terms of its levels of comfort and performance. The matte black plastic, coupled with the blue accents along the volume dial and mic boom makes the GSP 300 stand out a little bit.

The big over ear cups are lined with soft leather, with a good depth making the GSP 300 very comfortable to put on for longer periods even for those with big ears. Thick plush padding is used on the underside of the dual headband, with Sennheiser choosing to line them with a soft fabric rather than leather as seen on more ‘premium’ headphones. Weighing in at 10.2 ounces, the GSP 300 are definitely very comfortable.

The big boom microphone is of a pull down design, with a flexible end so that you can position the microphone closer to your mouth…..we will cover why you would want to do this later. The 2 meter audio cable is detachable, but many gamers will find they might want a little extra length in the cabling, with many gaming headsets nowadays coming with 3 meters in length. At the other end of the cable is a 3.5mm audio jack for the sound input another 3.5mm audio jack for the microphone. If you want to use the GSP 300 with a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will need to insert these 2 audio jacks into an adapter.

The rotating volume control is situated on the top of the right ear cup making it readily accessible, without having to fiddle along the length of an audio cable to locate line-in controls.
