It’s RGB, it’s Thermaltake, of course they are going to associate this with their Riing RGB LED case fans. From the blurb on the packaging, the Cronos RGB seems to cover a lot of bases.

Straight out of the box and your first impressions will be just how light the Cronos RGB is. Weighing in at only 365 grammes, this headset aims to cram in lots of features which we will explore later. The downside to slimming the headset down is that Thermaltake has opted for lighter materials in the construction of the Cronos RGB, the plastic around the earcups and headband does have a flimsy feel to them

The microphone boon is on a fold down hinge, good for easy access, but it’s big so does take away points for looks.

Another option Thermaltake has decided on in their pursuit of reducing the weight of the Cronos RGB is the use of fabric to cover the padding around the earcups. Eventhough the material is soft, I personally found it slightly abrasive on the skin around the ears.  The padding has a height of 25mm which should give enough clearance to most gamers, but those with larger ears may find this too shallow and will have their ears brushing up against the speakers.

The earcups are foldable so the Cronos RGB can collapse onto your chest, great for not getting in the way when you’re not wearing them, but there’s no carry pouch provided.

Another design of the Cronos RGB, and one that maybe is related to weight reduction, is that Thermaltake has opted not to use a suspension headband but a conventional padded one. The padding is sufficient to provide you with comfort, and Thermaltake has devided to use lycra to cover them instead of leather. How durable this lycra is, only time will tell.

The inline remote control is a bit of a monster and is RGB lit as well. Aside from the usual volume and mute buttons, you will also find buttons to contol the RGB illumination brightness and a locking switch to disable the remote control buttons, just in case you accidentally hit one of them. Another nice touch here is the clip on the back of the remote control, allowing you to clip it to you clothes and then giving the Cronos RGB cable some slack.
